A tile that looks flat on its own becomes a problem when laid next to another tile with opposite curvature — the edges lift and you get lippage.
The fix: CloudSpects measures each sample tile's diagonal bow using a digital caliper and straightedge. Per ISO 10545-2, the maximum acceptable warpage is 0.5% of the diagonal length. Even when individual tiles meet flatness specs, two tiles from different positions in the kiln can have opposite convexity, creating a height difference of 1.5mm or more at the shared edge. That's visible lippage, and it's the #1 complaint SA tilers raise about Chinese tile imports.
The fix: Our inspectors don't just measure individual tiles — we test adjacent pairing. We place two tiles edge-to-edge from different cartons and check height differential at the seam.
